We have set out these Terms of Use (“Terms”) to help ensure that everyone has a safe, respectful, and smooth experience on the Lokal Matrimony App. These Terms apply to your use of our mobile application (“App”) (available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store) (collectively, “Lokal Matrimony App”). The App is operated by Behtar Technology Private Limited (“Company”), a company registered in India with its office at 1501, 19th Main Rd., Sector- 1, HSR Layout, Bangalore, Karnataka- 560102.

“We”, “our” or “us” refers to Behtar Technology Private Limited, and “you” or “your” refers to any user of the Lokal Matrimony App.

These Terms must be read together with our Privacy Policy and Community Guidelines (collectively, the “Platform Policies”). By using the Lokal Matrimony App and agreeing to the Platform Policies when signing up, you confirm that you have read and accepted them. If you do not agree to any of the Platform Policies, please do not use the Lokal Matrimony App.

Please also ensure that you are permitted to access and use the Lokal Matrimony App under the laws of your jurisdiction.

ABOUT THE APP

Lokal Matrimony App is a regional-language matrimony app that helps enables users to find and connect with matches within their community. These interactions are entirely voluntary and initiated at the users’ discretion.

While you are free to choose whom you interact with, certain types of behaviour and interactions are strictly not allowed. Please refer to our Community Guidelines to understand what is permitted and what is prohibited on the Lokal Matrimony App.

By starting a transaction to use any of these Services, you agree that you are entering into a legally binding agreement with us for the provision of those Services.

CHANGES TO THE TERMS

We may update the Platform Policies from time to time, including to reflect changes in the services we offer or to improve how the Lokal Matrimony App operates. This may include modifying, disabling, or removing certain features or services, either temporarily or permanently, at our discretion.

Where any change is material or affects your rights or obligations, we will take reasonable steps to notify you, for example, by updating this page or showing an in-app notification.

If any change requires your consent under applicable law, we will obtain it before implementing the change.

By continuing to use the Lokal Matrimony App after updated Platform Policies take effect, you agree to be bound by them. We encourage you to review this page periodically to stay informed about any updates.

ELIGIBILITY

To register as a Member on the Lokal Matrimony App and access or use our services, you must be legally competent to enter into a binding contract under the Indian Contract Act, 1872, and must have attained the minimum legal marriageable age under applicable Indian law — 21 (Twenty-One) years or above for males and 18 (Eighteen) years or above for females. You may be asked to submit documents for your age verification anytime.

The Lokal Matrimony App is intended solely for individuals seeking a lawful matrimonial alliance. Membership is limited to individuals who are legally eligible to enter into matrimony under the personal laws applicable to them. The App is strictly for personal, non-commercial use, and membership shall be deemed void where prohibited by law.

By accessing or using the App, you represent and warrant that:

  • You are an individual natural person and not a body corporate, partnership, or any other legal entity;
  • You possess the full legal right, authority, and capacity to enter into this Agreement;
  • You are not subject to any disability, injunction, order, or prohibition issued by any court, tribunal, or competent authority that restricts or prohibits your ability to marry;
  • The information provided by you on the App is accurate, lawfully owned or controlled by you, and does not belong to any other person to whom you have no right. Such information is not illegal, false, misleading, defamatory, obscene, or invasive of another person's privacy;
  • You are registering with the bona fide intention of entering into matrimony and not for any casual, immoral, illegal, exploitative, commercial, or fraudulent purpose.

To register on and use the Lokal Matrimony App and its services, you must:

  • be legally competent to enter into a binding contract under the laws of India;
  • be of legal marriageable age under applicable Indian law (currently, 18 years or above for women and 21 years or above for men);
  • provide true, accurate and complete information while creating your account and profile; and
  • use the App only for the purpose of seeking matrimonial matches and in accordance with these Terms and applicable laws.

ACCOUNT REGISTRATION AND USE

To use the Lokal Matrimony App, you must create an account by verifying your mobile number through a one-time password (OTP). You are required to provide additional information to complete your profile and access all features of the App. For details on how this information is collected and used, please refer to our Privacy Policy.

You agree to provide accurate and complete information during registration and to keep it up to date. You are responsible for all activity that takes place through your account, so please keep your login credentials secure. If you notice any unauthorised use of your account, please contact our support team immediately.

You agree to ensure that the information shared by you on the App remains accurate, current and complete at all times. Your use of the App means you agree to how we handle your personal data as described in our Privacy Policy. Please review it to understand what data we collect and how we use it.

Subject to our Platform Policies, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable license to use the App and Services. This includes any software we provide as part of the App, which may be updated automatically from time to time.

The Company reserves the right to suspend or terminate your account if any information provided by you is found to be false, misleading or incomplete, or if your use of the App is in violation of these Terms or applicable law.

MEMBERSHIP AND PACKAGE VALIDITY

Upon purchase of a membership or subscription package on the Lokal Matrimony App, your selected package shall remain valid for the specific duration stated at the time of purchase or until the number of contact unlocks, profile views, or similar usage limits included in the package are fully utilised, whichever occurs earlier.

During the validity period, you will be entitled to access only those features, benefits, and services expressly included in the package purchased by you. The scope of such features may vary depending on your membership plan. The Company does not guarantee the availability of any specific match, response, or outcome as part of any package.

All purchases of membership packages are final and non-refundable. No refund shall be processed once a package has been purchased, irrespective of whether the package benefits have been fully utilised, partially utilised, or remain unused at the time of the refund request. For the avoidance of doubt, utilisation of even one contact unlock, profile view, or any other feature included in the package shall constitute use of the package for the purposes of this clause.

Any unused duration, contact unlocks, or other benefits shall automatically expire upon completion of the validity period. No extension, carry-forward, or compensation for unused benefits shall be provided, unless expressly stated otherwise by the Company in writing. In exceptional circumstances, at the sole discretion of the Company, a redemption credit may be offered in lieu of a refund, which shall not be construed as an entitlement or a waiver of this policy.

The Company reserves the right to modify, add to, or discontinue any features or benefits included in a membership package, provided that such changes do not materially reduce the core benefits already purchased by you, or as otherwise permitted under applicable law.

USER CONDUCT AND ACCEPTABLE USE

You agree to use the Lokal Matrimony App in a lawful, respectful and responsible manner. In particular, you shall not:

  • post, upload, publish or share any content that is false, misleading, offensive, obscene, abusive, defamatory, harassing or otherwise unlawful;
  • impersonate any person or misrepresent your identity, age, marital status or any other personal information;
  • use the App for any commercial, promotional, fraudulent or non-matrimonial purpose;
  • attempt to access, collect or use any data of other users without their consent or in violation of applicable law;
  • interfere with or disrupt the operation, security or integrity of the App.

The Company reserves the right to remove any content and suspend or terminate your access to the App if you violate this clause or any other provision of these Terms.

PROFILE CONTENT AND RESPONSIBILITY

You are solely responsible for the information, photographs and other content that you upload or share on the Lokal Matrimony App. You represent and warrant that all information provided by you is accurate, current and does not violate any third-party rights or applicable laws. You agree not to upload or share any content that is misleading, obscene, defamatory, infringing, or otherwise unlawful. The Company does not independently verify user-provided information and does not guarantee the accuracy or authenticity of any profiles or communications on the App. The Company reserves the right to remove or restrict access to any content or profile that violates these Terms or applicable law.

MATCHING AND COMMUNICATION DISCLAIMER

The Lokal Matrimony App provides a platform to enable users to discover and communicate with potential matrimonial matches. Match suggestions and partner recommendations displayed on the App are algorithmically derived based on the partner preference inputs provided by you and are intended solely for your personal consideration. The Company does not guarantee any specific outcomes, including the accuracy, compatibility, or suitability of any match, and does not conduct background, identity, or marital status verification of users. You are advised to independently verify the authenticity and reliability of information provided by other Members, including those bearing a verified profile badge. All interactions and decisions made through the App are solely between users, and the Company shall not be liable for any disputes or claims arising out of your interactions with other users.

PRIVACY AND DATA PROTECTION

Your personal information will be collected, used, stored and shared in accordance with the Company’s Privacy Policy and applicable data protection laws in India. By using the Lokal Matrimony App, you consent to such collection and processing of your personal data for the purposes of providing and improving the services, operating the App and complying with legal obligations. You agree to review and understand the Privacy Policy before using the App.

You acknowledge that the Company may, from time to time, offer promotional communications or third-party benefits to its Members. No personally identifiable information or sensitive personal data shall be shared with any third party for such purposes without your prior express consent, in compliance with our Privacy Policy and applicable privacy laws.

SUSPENSION & TERMINATION OF ACCOUNT

The Company reserves the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Lokal Matrimony App, with or without prior notice, if you breach these Terms, provide false or misleading information, misuse the App, or engage in any activity that is unlawful or harmful to other users or to the Company. You may stop using the App and deactivate your account at any time. Upon suspension or termination, your right to access and use the App shall immediately cease, and the Company shall not be liable to you for any such suspension or termination.

Where possible, we will notify you before taking such action. However, we reserve the right to act without notice in cases involving legal obligations, serious violations, or risk to the safety of other users or the Lokal Matrimony App.

USER OBLIGATIONS

Use the Lokal Matrimony App Lawfully and Respectfully

You must not use the Lokal Matrimony App in a way that:

  • violates any law (in India or elsewhere)
  • attempts to bypass technical protections, or interfere with or overload our systems, for example, by spamming features, introducing malicious code, scraping data, attempting unauthorised access, or using automated tools or scripts to misuse the Lokal Matrimony App
  • interferes with other users’ experience
  • infringes any intellectual property rights (ours or others')

Provide Accurate Information

You must use your correct phone number and gender to access our Services. Do not provide false information or impersonate anyone while using the Lokal Matrimony App.

Keep Your Account Secure

You are responsible for all activity on your account. Do not share your login credentials, phone number, OTPs, or payment details with anyone. We are not liable if you choose to share such information with other users.

Do not allow anyone else to access or use your account. Each account is tied to a single phone number and must only be used by the individual who registered it.

If another user asks you for sensitive information, report them to us immediately.

Follow our Community Guidelines

All interactions on the Lokal Matrimony App must follow our Community Guidelines. If you violate them, we may take action such as suspending or permanently terminating your account. You may write to us at support.matrimony@getlokalapp.com or matrimony.grievance@getlokalapp.com if you wish to appeal any action taken.

Do Not Share Prohibited Content

You must not use the Lokal Matrimony App to share any content that is illegal, harmful, or violates our Community Guidelines. This includes, but is not limited to, content that is obscene, discriminatory, promotes hate or violence, or is harmful to minors.

For a complete list of what is and is not allowed on the Lokal Matrimony App, please read our Community Guidelines. We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these policies and take appropriate action against your account.

Violation of this clause may result in suspension or termination of access to the Platform and such other action as may be required under applicable law.

Legal Disclosures and Our Liability

We may share your information with law enforcement or other authorities if required to do so by law, or if we believe it is reasonably necessary to:

  • Respond to a valid legal request
  • Protect the rights, safety, or property of Lokal Matrimony App, its users, or the public
  • Prevent fraud, misuse, or security risks

Please note that while we work to keep the Lokal Matrimony App safe, we are not responsible for the actions of other users, whether on or off the Lokal Matrimony App.

Respect Intellectual Property

You retain ownership of any content you create and share. However, you must not use the Lokal Matrimony App to violate anyone else’s intellectual property rights, including ours.

If you use content provided by Lokal Matrimony App, we retain ownership of all related intellectual property rights. Any unauthorised use may result in suspension or termination of your account, or other appropriate action in accordance with our Platform Policies.

Deleting Your Account and Data Retention

You can delete your account at any time. If you do, we may retain some of your data for a limited period in case you choose to reactivate it. To learn more about how we use, store, or delete your information, please refer to our Privacy Policy.

THIRD-PARTY LINKS AND TOOLS

The Lokal Matrimony App may contain links to external websites or include third-party features, such as AI tools or social sharing options. These are operated independently and are not controlled by us.

We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of any third-party site or service. Your use of such features is at your own discretion and will be governed by their own terms and policies.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

Your use of Lokal Matrimony App must comply with all applicable laws on copyright, trademarks, patents, and other intellectual property rights. You are responsible for ensuring that anything you do on the Lokal Matrimony App does not violate someone else’s rights.

We own all intellectual property rights in the content, design, features, and trademarks made available by the Lokal Matrimony App. This includes our name, logo, and software. You may not copy, use, or distribute any of this without our permission.

If any third-party content or tools appear on the Lokal Matrimony App, the rights in that material remain with the respective owners. You may need to get their permission if you wish to use it outside the Lokal Matrimony App.

We respect the intellectual property rights of others and expect users to do the same. If you infringe someone’s rights, you may be held directly responsible.

DISCLAIMERS AND LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

The Lokal Matrimony App is provided to you on an as is where is basis. We make no representations or warranties, express or implied, about the Lokal Matrimony App, its Services, or the content shared on it. This includes any warranties regarding fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, reliability, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the Lokal Matrimony App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the information provided through the Lokal Matrimony App will be accurate.

You use the Lokal Matrimony App and Services at your own risk. We do not monitor user behaviour or conduct background checks, and we are not responsible for the actions or conduct of other users, whether on or off the Lokal Matrimony App.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Company shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the Lokal Matrimony App, including your interactions with other users. The Company’s total liability, if any, shall be limited in accordance with applicable law.

INDEMNITY

By using the Lokal Matrimony App, you agree to take full responsibility for your actions. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Company, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, successors, and assigns from and against any claims, demands, proceedings, losses, damages, liabilities, costs, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in connection with:

  • your access to or use of the Lokal Matrimony App or Services;
  • any breach of these Terms by you;
  • any violation by you of another person’s rights, including intellectual property, privacy, or consumer protection rights;
  • any violation of law or contractual obligations by you;
  • your negligence or wilful misconduct.

This obligation will continue to apply even after these Terms have ended.

We reserve the sole right to manage, settle, or resolve any claims brought against us, without requiring your prior approval. You agree to cooperate with us, at our request, in defending or settling any such claims.

DISPUTE RESOLUTION

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of India. Any disputes or claims arising from or in connection with these Terms, the Lokal Matrimony App, or the Services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at Bengaluru, Karnataka.

GRIEVANCE REDRESSAL MECHANISM

If you have any complaints, concerns, or grievances regarding your rights under these Terms, or the Services provided to you, you can contact us through the following channels. We will require the phone number linked to your account in order to process and resolve any grievance.

You can report user profiles or make complaints directly within the Lokal Matrimony App.
